Skimmer for a 500 gallon system

Hello folks, wondering what you guys feel would be the best skimmer for a large system approaching 500 gallons. I am consolidating all my tanks onto one system and don't wanna run 3-4 different skimmers.

I also don't wanna spend a small fortune.

Any recs?

i think you will be spending a good deal of $$$ for one you might want to look at a eru-reef skimmer because any of the really lagre skimmer will need really big loud skimmer i think ero-reef makes the quietest skimmers out their a nother plase is a person cauled myreef that is making from what i have herd really good skimmer for an awsome price

I would go aerofoamer or MYREEF he has already made big duel beckets for ppl. Becket skimmers are in the top class of all the powerful skimmers. Some ppl may prefer others but it is the most powerful way to skim. I like euroreef also but for big skimming for less $$= myreef. Theres a few others who make them also

just to tell you you will be spending around $550-$600.00 the only to i could get a quick price for are the

euro-reef sc8-3 for tanks 250-600 gal +$588.00
aerofoamer 830 for tanks up to 1000 for $649

ps euro-reef skimmers are now made in the usa witch has brought them down in price a lot i think 588.00 is a really good price i even think you can find it cheper a jefs exotic and they are awsome you can just look at one runing and see how white the tubs are. you should check out t their web page euro-reef.com

I suggest either an ETS, an MTC or even the Euro skimmer for your system. I have used all three on many different installations, ranging from the smallest to almost the largest any one of the manufacturers offers. My order of preference is the same as listed above. And the reasons for this preference range from ease of cleaning, to skimmate produced, to even availability and the list goes on. Nowhere in the equation do I find myself mulling over price as a determining factor. All is IMHO. HTH, and GOOD LUCK.

I had Myreef build me a skimmer for my 415 gallon tank with a 135 gallon sump. I wanted it to go under the stand so he made it wider instead of taller and that cost more, but it was still less than an Aerofoamer or Euroreef. I would have loved to get a Euroreef CS12-1 or 2, but you get into the $800+ price range and I didn't want to spend that on the skimmer. Andy (Myreef) makes a good product and is easy to deal with. You might drop him an email and get him to quote you on your dream skimmer and you might be shocked at how reasonable the price ends up being.
Here are a couple pics of my skimmer:

In all fairness - the pic of the skimmer working is when I added my southdown sand and it was skimming the silt out of the water. I haven't really got anything in the tank for it to skim after the sand settled down so it is just kind of chugging along right now without skimming a whole lot.
