Got my new Calcium Reactor + pictures

I got my new Calcium Reactor from Myreef last week. I was originally going to go with the Korallin but the package from Myreef looked much better since it was a dual chamber and I already had a ph problem. The price was also considerably less also. Anyway it came as expected and all the contents arrived in good condition. A few days later I have gotten the hang of getting it tweaked out, but it still is not set perfectly. I am having a problem with bubbles collecting but I am guessing that is from where I have the powerhead located. The Maxi-jet is close to where I have my water dropping from my tank, this is also where my skimmer drops it's return water. I am going to extend the tubes today to try to get that problem fixed. If anyone has the same problem with there reactor please let me know. I was also pleased to notice that my ph is actually going up insted of down. Yesterday it was 8.26 which is a rare thing for my tank. I decided on the 6" tubes with 12" height instead of the 4" tube because I would like it to be able to handle my 225 when I get it. I would recommend this reactor to anyone needing one, well here are the pics.

I want to say the reactor was like $220.00 after shipping. There is a package from Premium Aquatics you buy for the setup that includes one pump and the dual gauges, it was $150.00. The Co2 tank was $100.00, but plan on getting an aluminum cylinder later. I also had to buy the media and a powerhead but that stuff was well under $75.00. All in all a great deal

Dual Chamber?

Why is a dual chamber preferable? I am new so forgive the basics of this question. I am in the process of putting together a 120 reef and a calcium reactor for me is a must. I want to see growth!!!

I received my MyReef reactor and set it up today. I got the standard dual chamber reactor though. I kind of wish I would of went with the 6" diameter tubes too, didn't think about it though.

Andy is very helpful and always promptly answers all of my questions. Even the dumb ones

I am very pleased and definitely recommend his reactors!

Thanks guys...glad to hear everyone is happy.

Sounds like you are on the right track about the bubbles. I would move the pump away from the skimmer return also. I put my MJ powerhead away from most everything. The only time I get air is when I need to top it off...ie forget to fill my auto top off. How lazy can I be not to fill the auto top off? LOL

Hard to tell in that pic, but that reactor is 6" OD tube 12" tall. It is a nice compact unit.

MROK, the main purpose of the dual chamber Vs the single is in the way the CO2 is used. It is more efficient to make the CO2 pass through a second chamber. By passing through a second chamber the pH of the effluent is slightly higher than a single. Although there has been debate on some of the boards lately about the significance of a second chamber. If you keep mostly SPS and clams then I think it is beneficial...if you keep mainly softies and a few SPS...then you can get away with a single. I really like the 6" OD tube. It gives a greater surface area and with the shorter height like this one...allows the CO2 to penetrate and do its job more effectively.

OK enough of my soap box....HTH

In my current situation with my house the pump will have to stay where it is. I think I have an idea, I put a partition between the maxijet and the returns. This should be enough to keep the bubbles away. I will know in 2 days, that is usually when I really see it. I think the media must had settled too, it is down an inch.
