Time to replace my DI media?
Hi, I have a Kent Marine RO/DI HIS-60. The DI media is changing the color from green/blue to brown about 25-30% on the top of the media. Is it time to change or can/do I wait until the whole media change to brown. Thanks

Hi jasonchi!
When my DI resin begins to change color, I order another cartridge. By the time I receive it and get ready to change it, about 50% of the resin has changed. The less filtering capable resin, the lower the water quality. I try not to let more than 50% change before changing cartridges. Just my preference.

DI change times
As your DI becomes exhausted there are less and less inspection sites to "exchange out" unwanted material. Break through is the problem you may start to have. A TDS meter will let you know if you are experiencing break through.
A good way to get full use out of your DI is to run them in series. You will pick up any break through in the second cartridge and get full use out of your first. Then when you replace the first, switch postions, so the last thing the water sees before it gets to your tank is always fully charged.
