I just did a search at reefcentral and all but one of the post sounded like yours ^^^
Take this into consideration, I have a 20g hex!! Yes, they do take up alot of space but, the power output is perfect! here is my dilema: Since I put it in the tank, Iv noticed the oil type substance on the surface, the type you would see if you fed to much frozen food.Could this substance by from the non-UL listed power sweep? |

i doubt the oily substance has anything to do with the powersweep(never heard or exp.anything like that).the powersweep is a good idea, just doesnt perform well.mine works(pumps out SOME water) but i took it out of my reef a long time ago(about a week after it went in)and hid it behind the lr in my fo.

They work fine IF:
You clean them at least once a month And You do not have a high particulate load in your water. So if you are willing to clean them very regularly and you don't have a bunch of floaters in your tank they work great and I highly recommend them.

They must have improved them. Last year I put one in my tank it only had fresh sw on a new tank it wouldn't work right. The output is weak also. it was 20 q-tank. IME they suck. Do a search on all the bboards I bet you'll be suprised

I agree, they are huge, and if you let too much coraline algea grow on them they will stop sweeping which is a pain ... and the flow is rather weak, barely adaquate for my 29 gallon .. but enough. I am happy overall with the powerhead, and would probably purchase one again.
