1400gph. I have a 125g reef. 30gallon ETSS sump with an ampmaster 3000 return pump. I have 4 acrylic baffles and one sponge the bubbles have to make it through. I get minimal bubble return into my tank. The bubbles are mainly from my PM Bullet-3 skimmer powered by a Iwaki 55RLT. With this much turnover in my sump I must be carefull with not having to much resistance, or I will get a large water build-up on one side of the sump. example dirty sponge.

I tried putt 2500 gph through a 40 gal sump with 4 baffles and a micro bag. It would work for a day or two until the bag clogged up. Its not worth the trouble. I run about 1000-1100 gph through the sump and 2000-2200 through the closed loop......

Some times less head is better. I'm using a 50 gallon sump/refugium with this setup I have ran both a mag18 and a dolphin sst1200 @6ft of head max it's actualy less the way it's currently plumbed. Without a doubt even on the new system which is in the planning stages I will run a closed loop with an amp master 3000 on 2ft of head and an gri for the return. Total gph within the system should run around 4k with only 1/4 running through the sump.

Im pushing about 900gph through my sump/refugium and I also recently put a 1/2" Seaswirl and Mag9 on a closed loop for more circulation in the main tank (90gal). My sump is a 10gal and my Refugium is a 20gal.....HTH
