1. Got burned out Rio 2100 feeding a skimmer. Need to replace it with something reliable. Output size doesn't matter since I can always put a flex tube connector on it.
2. Got a Rio 2500 Return pump feeding a 53 gallon reef tank. It is actually a little more powerful than it needs to be. 3. Got a Rio 2500 To create water movement in a 150 gal reef (besides an Iwaki 40rlt return pump). Was considering 2 SWR 6500's to create some wave action with Neptune controller. I contacted Global aquarium supply and this is what they had to say about them: I will warrantee it for 6 months. If you keep it clean(the shaft) it will have no problem going 1-2 years or longer! The 6500's are very nice. They are whisper quiet and cheap to run(22 watts). We have had great luck with them so far. The 6500 only comes with one oulet. Any ideas on these pumps or any other suggestions? Thanks very much.

The only other submerisible pumps I've used other than Rio's are the Sen pumps. I replaced my Rio 3100 with a Sen 900. I'm very happy with it, you can't even compare the two. The Sen is built much better and it pumps much stronger even though the two pumps are rated at about the same gph.
You can replace the Rio 2500's with a Sen700. Or maybe a Mag7. Frank |

Just want to jump in here to agree with what fdm just posted. The reason that the Sen 700 rated at 750gph is stronger than the Rio 3100 rated at 999gph is because the Rio is not pressure rated. Anyway, the Sen 700 would be a good choice. Ninong ![]()

Is the Mag 7 and Mag Drive 700 the same pump. I've seen the mag drive pumps, so if they are not the same who carries the Mag Sevens?

I wouldn't use a Mag 7, myself and several people I know have had problems with this pump. When the power is turned off to the pump it wont restart. I have to remove the pump from the water and knock it up against something to get it started. Go for the Sen.

Thanks for your replies so far.
Those Sens look pretty bulky (from the pictures I've seen). But that's fine for the protein skimmer and return pump, and I'll probably go with those. But what about 2 phds for water movement? Anyone have any experience with the SWR's? Even if you haven't used and SWR before does the warranty sound like it's average, and does it's lifetime operation expectancy sound average for a powerhead as well? I kind of like the idea of not putting the phds in the water wich the SWRs allow me to do.
