How about posting a few pictures of your setup. I think the guys would like to see the GREAT job you did with the spa hose.

I have some old pixs but I need to post some new ones ;)

I need to take some shots of the few corals I have so far for a comparision later on down the line. This give me 1 more reason to take some.

I will upload some either to photopoint or my website if I can remember my upload passwords in a bit.

    Ltspd,

What's the URL for your website? The one in your profile isn't working for me.

Paul, you don't need to uplaod them to a web site when you can upload them right here. When you reply, go down below where it says "Attach file:" hit the Browse button and select the picture from your hard drive...

Here is a shot of the flex pvc pipes coming through the wall in the back of the tank and going straight down to the basement. I still lack re-programing the plc and wiring it up to all the devices. Thats why you see std timers and sort of messy. I will have a plug box I have built to plug all the lights, etc in and then wire the power from that to the plc. That way I can unplug devices without messing with the plc program.

Here is a shot under the tank. You can see the unions and bv's on the sump line. This has both 1-1/2" drains tied into 1 (1-1/2") line that runs to the sump tank. This is a waste IMO of the large drain lines, but, due to the sump being able to handle 1800 gph without producing bubbles this is how I worked it. I have considered completely removing one whole overflow from the tank to give me more space without any flow loss. The smaller lines (reduction) are the returns. I have no problem with restricting the flow from the am3000 here probely due to the head its pushing which is around 12ft.

You can also see the homemade manifold I created for the closed loop system. This is the tee thing resting on the 2x2 in the center. Its a 1-1/2" pipe that splits into 4 seaperate lines. These lines come back into the tank and come out inside the LR via flex loc. I really would like some form of oscilation on these but havent found the right device yet. But the brains still working on that one.

For those of you who dont know what a stockman (durso) pipe looks like. Notice the return flex inside the overflow box. Almost 10lbs of shi@ in a 5lb overflow.

Here is the sump room which is directly below the tank in the basement. Nice thing about this setup is all the noise is downstairs (except for the fans).

You can see the 2 am3000's. 1 is for the sump and the other is the closed loop system.

The water unit is setup so I never have to make or store water as a top off. Its plug and play and forget. I do have to re-route things to make up w/c water but that only takes me a few seconds thanks to john guest fittings.

One thing I would like to work on is the skimmer. Thats a aerofoamer 824 pushed by a mag18. The mag18 pushes about 3ft of head so it loses some force. The water is drawn from the side of the sump tank and the return is to the back. I need to figure out some way to lower the unit and re-work the drain. I am also going to soon be putting the skimmer on a timer and run 12 hrs a day. The unit is very efficient, and waste more elec than needed, so why not save a few bucks.

Notice the myreef calc reactor, fine unit if I do say so. I wish I had found him before I bought the skimmer ;)

I will also be re-working the lights for the sump. Now is a std bulb but I will be replacing with 2 LOA's I think

Overall tank. I am not much of photogropher, or speller, so the picuture is not that good. I plan on setting up a tripod and turning the room lights off so I can take a better picture (s).

    ltspd,
thanks for taking the time i appreciate it very much .
you have an awesome sump setup ,i wish i had a basement sump room......im jealous.im trying to cram all my stuff into the stand i made ,and though it will work,i dont have the room to have as large a fresh water resovior as i would like ,as well as no room for the ca reactor id like to add eventually.....

    now for the questions
those black things after youre ball valves are unions? the ones i saw were white and longer.
you also have some clear acrylic tubing?why not all spa flex?

Yes black things (actually grey) are unions. HD sells them for about 8 ea.

The clear tubing was easier to run from the manifold. The manifold is made up by "hard" piping the inlet and I have screwed hose barbs in the other side (outlet) This was partially due to the tank being in place and full of water. I would have had a terrible time attaching flex.

Thanks Paul for posting the picture. I thought it might help out the guys that are setting up their new tanks. You did do a GREAT job setting up your tank.

    How's the skimmer working out?
