AquaC Urchin or CPR SR2 Skimmer

I'm seeting u[p a small tank (29g) with a 10g sump. Both the AquaC urchin and the CPR sr2 will fit nicely in the sump. Looking for advice on whether either of these skimmers do what they are supposed to do and if so which one do you think works better?

    Thanks

I have aqua-c remora for 1-1/2 years now, I think it's the same design as urchin only hang on. Yes? If so I will tell you that I think it's a fantastic skimmer except that it is absolutely impossible to clean. Over time I have noticed a steady decline in flow, I figured pump was wearing out so I bought new one. No change. I think problem is build up of "crud" in inaccessable parts of skimmer, there is no way to get in there to clean. Other than that I think it's great.

I vote AquaC. They have improved the easibility of cleaning the injector in the new models. I have the in sump Urchin PRO version.

There are 2 options for cleaning out your skimmers effectively. Muratic acid bath followed by a bakingsoda rinse or a Vinegar bath followed by the same rinse. Either one of these methods should bring your skimmer up to snuff.

Hi all AquaC owners, which pump are you using to pump the Urchin Pro? I have mine powered by Eheim 1250 and already running more than a month. It produced little foam and watery, light brown skimmate. Is it because of the too little bio-load? I have only 5 1" damsels and 50lb LR. I heard someone has powered Remora Pro with 700gph or 900gph pump and gave good results. Should I switch to a bigger pump and what else I can do to improve the performance?

This is my first skimmer after I read a lot of celebrated messages from this forum, but actually I am not too impressed with that.

    Hey Blue,
I want to upgrade the pump in my Urchin pro and was going to use the Mag 3 or Mag 5. Did you have to put a ball valve on the Mag 7 for your brothers to work and not overflow with water? I'm curious.
The Rio that I have on mine sucks.
