Thumbs down Trashing my CPR Overflow Box

I have a 180 Plex tank and I would like to drill it for overflows. I have heard that once your tank is bowed you cannot fit an internal box. If I drill 2 - 2 inch holes will they handle a 2000 GPH outflow? Will the 2 Inch size holes weaken my Aquarium? I would like to drill the holes near the top, where would you locate them to reduce the risks of cracking the aquarium?

Thanks for any help that you might give me...

Welcome to Reefland Mike. I replied to you on RC, but forgot to answer a question you asked so I will answer it here. When you say, you are drilling 2-2" holes....do you mean 2-2" bulkheads or actual 2" holes? IME, a bulkhead drilled off the back of the tank will not handle nearly as much as a bulkhead on the bottom of a tank in a traditional overflow situation. I would also think, 2-2" holes in separate overflows would handle more than 2-2" holes/bulkheads in one overflow, since the water can only drain over the teeth so fast. This is only a guess, but seems to be right....maybe someone else can shed some light on it. HTH....good luck.

Thank you Andy for your help......Since I have a bow in my tank I think it would be hard to build a box and install a traditional over flow box drilled in the bottom of the tank... I am in hopes that I can drill the 2 2inch bulkhead holes in the back of the aquarium and that they will drain the 2,000 GPH. What do you think?
