Thumbs up My NEW 220 Starphire Tank

Well there are a few things that I wasnt 100% Pleased about it...but overall I was VERY PLEASED!....It seems that the silicone could have been a bit neater, but its nothing I cant fix with a razor blade myself, and the price was well worth it....I will Definately go back to CRS Aquatics for my next tank! Steve did a great job! This IS NOT a Inter American tank. The dimensions of this tank are 72" Long 24" Tall and 30" Wide I got euro-bracing, starphire glass 17mm on front and both sides....regular glass on back 17mm, and 19mm regular glass on bottom....He drilled 4 - 2 3/8" Holes for my Durso standpipe, closed loop, and return, He also made me a black overflow box as seen. All edges are VERY nice after thinking about it I decided to not get any trim as I can cover it as I like. Well here is what everyone probably wants....The pics :P

Nice tank!

I hope you'll keep us up to date on your set-up process. Of course, with a tank that big, you won't have much time for the computer.

Your dog seems to like being in the tank more than my cat, but she still needs that bath every now and then.

What tankmates are you planning for the puppy?
Won't he chew on the LR? I can't imagine how the sponges will survive. LOL

Nice tank!

Thinking about another tank allready? OMG, now I know for sure this reef hobby is a yet to be diagnosed disease... LOL
The puppy looks so cute in the tank. Congrats. I know you will have fun setting it up, and much more, once it is up and running. I am very happy for you.

Smile Your Welcome!

Rocky, glad I could return some of the help I have received with my tank.

I REALLY like that tank, I like tthe look of no trim, really opens things up nicely. The holes in the back/bottom are sweet, you should have a great closed loop, general flow on the whole tank.

I am sure yours will be one that a lot will drool (sp) over for some time.

Thumbs up

That is a beautiful tank! How much did you say it cost you? I like the simplistic and functional design. And the glass appears to be very high grade and refined.

Wonder how much Qceanic will charge for something like that?

Good job!

I am very happy for you. I'd imagine that you've had a great time setting this up.

BTW, when I upgrade to a bigger tank, I'm going to copy every single detail of your thought and planning processes and tank set-up. (Hope you don't mind.) I don't think anyone has ever set up a more well planned system.

Albee, are you just rounding down on the size of your tank? You tank should actually be a 360 gallons based on the measurements.

Doug:
NP Bro!

JerryReef:
Thank you! The tank cost me $1120 and I had to pick it up from the manufacturer. I have heard that possibly Oceanic could start building tanks soon, but I would bet that they will be very expensive.

Reinhold:
To say that I have had a great time setting up this monster is an understatement I did/still am having a great time, but on the other side it can be frustrating and costly, but im doing alot of it DIY, its still costly though. Im honored that you want to use my same style of setup!! and of course I wouldnt mind!! this is one of the reasons why I wanted to document everything....to spread the knowledge! knowledge = power, and that power may just help save our reefs!!!

Albee: (allan?)
I talked to Steve at CRS aquatics and he said my tank didnt need the styro as long as I had a very level stand reinforced with 3/4" plywood (which i do).

Well on October 4th. 10pm. I had all of my plumbing done and started my cycle, seeing how I know everyone likes pics heres some!

are you using 1.5 inch pipe even into the tank or did you reduce down the pipe at all ?

There is NO pipes smaller than 1.5" in my whole setup ...just a couple of reducers right at the inlet of the SS's
