need advice on pump
I have a 55 gal semi-reef setup. I have had it for about 2 years. I recently traded my cpr bak-pak for a hang on wet/dry filter. So I have a few questions.
The pump I got sometimes doesn't start after being unplugged, I don't know what kind of pump it is so I think I should buy a new one.......which one?...on a budget... I know Rio's are not favored here....but I have had good luck with them in the past. Also How do I figure out how big of a pump I need. I do not know how much flow my overflow box has, but it looks like a 3/4" U tube, maybe 1". The wet/dry is a sealife systems rated for 75 gallon tank...(if that helps) Any help is appreciated Travis

Hi tben,
I have the sealife 60 w/d sump model and use a Rio 2100. I don't know if that helps. I have asked a few questions on their website and gotten replies. You may want to try sealifesystems.com and get their suggestions. |

Try taking the pump apart and cleaning it. Then try running the pump in a pail full of vinegar for a day..

I have already cleaned it pretty thoroughly....I think the impeller is bad....(it is very loose in the pump). I would get another impeller butt I don't know what kind of pump it is......( I am sure it is not a rio, mag drive, sens, etc....not any of the popular ones....never seen one like it.
