I'm having a pump problem and I'm hoping someone can give me advise about it. Every so often (random) my Quiet One pump stops functioing. During this time, the casing is very hot to the touch and to remedy the problem, I have to remove the pump from the system, take off the face and turn the impeller by hand. It seems like the pump is overheating for some reason and the impeller shaft is expanding and siezing up. During normal operations, the pump casing is uncomfortable to touch, but not burning. I've tried installing fans to cool the pump but it hasn't seemed to help. I did aquire the pump from a friend so I don't know how old it really is. I'm pretty sure there isn't anything I can do to help out this pump so my questions are this: Is this common to Quiet Ones? In other words, if I get a new one, will I see this problem. Also, my manifold system is pretty elaborate and might produce more backpressure than what people normally use. Could this be putting undo stress on the pump? Thanks for all replies.
