Maxijet Powerheads

Right now I have a Penguin 550 and an 1140 that I'm using for circulation in my 46gal. I have a Mag 7 as my return pump. I want to get rid of the Penguins because they're huge. I want to get something that will do a good job of circulating water, but something small enough that I can at least try to hide. I was thinking of getting 4 Maxijet 400s. I will eventually get a wavemaker and use these on it. I've got a Maxijet 1200 on my skimmer right now and I like it because it moves alot of water without taking up much space. What do you guys think of the 4 Maxijet setup? I am open to any suggestions so feel free to let me know what you think about it.

horn1004,
I used the same setup on my old 55 for a few years. I think I had 2- 400's a 750 and a 1000 hooked up to a wave-strip. I like maxi-jet powerheads.

IMO depending on what you keep I would have at least maxijet 750. 3' tank? If you have sps I would use 1200. they really aren't that powerful especially if they go on and off it can really blast the sps each time. But I don't know your set up. JME 750 really isn't that strong. But whichever you choose maxijets are pretty good.

Bamm Bamm,

How many power heads did you have on it? The reason I wanted to go with 4 is so I could have different current patterns in different parts of the tank. I am afraid that if I put 4 1200s in there I'm just going to create a storm. What do you think?
