Hey,
I can't tell much by the pictures. How many baffles do you have in the sump? How big is it (sump)? How many GPH are you putting though the sump? What did you do to get rid of the other bubble problem you had? Mark |

Im not sure if this is it, but I have seen it done by many including myself. Your top lid to your skimmer, is it vented? if not then this will just push more bubbles by creating a backpressure.....I had my skimmate tube overflowing to a milk jug and I drilled a hole in to the milk jug and barely fit the overflow hose into the milk jug....the milk jug would eventually puff out like its going to explode....I would unscrew the cap and get a breath full of rancid skimmate air

I would say your moving too much water though the sump too fast and the skimmer bubbles don't have time to dissipate. I did the same thing you did when I first installed my Amp Master as sump return. I used the Micron bag and a few other gadgets to get rid of the bubbles. It got to be too much work removing the micron bag ever other day to clean it. I want a tank I can walk away from for two weeks.
I would put the Amp Master on a closed loop and use a smaller pump for sump return. Then you can turn a section of the sump into a refugium. Mark |
