Does any one know how much a 55 gal. weighs??? I am doing something and was wondering how much it would weigh. the dimensions are 48Lx12Wx18H. If any one can tell me I would APPRECIATE it a lot

are you asking how much a 55 gal tank would weigh filled with water......I would guess around 450-500 pounds. Just a tank with 55 gal of water in it.

That would be a 45 gal. The water weight is close to 10lbs. per gal.
then add on any sand, rock ect. |

Without the water would be just fine..... are you sure a 45 gal. it said 55gal when I bought it.

Yes it is a 45 gal. The calculation is LXWXH / 231,that is 48x12x18=10,368 / 231=44.883116. As for the tanks weight to many factor to guess. Is it glass and how thick is it? Just get on a scale with and without it and figure it out.

well it is about 1-2mm thick and an all glass aquarium I would say about 30 or 40 lbs. but not exact

I didn't even look at the dimensions...its 45 gal
Fresh water is 8.34 pounds per gal. I don't think saltwater is 1.66 pounds heavier. Hmmmm maybe! |

but hey I may be wrong.... anyways back to the question.... how much would it weigh w/o mwater in it and all glass. Remember tank only!!! |

Golfish is correct on his weight of tha water. I had said close to 10 lbs. It's probably closer to 9 lbs. I use 10 lbs. as a rough estimate on weight because it's easy and by the time you add sand and rock your only guessing on water vol. anyway.
