Angry Help -Skimmer Flooding

This has happened twice in two weeks- can't take it anymore.

Here's the story:
Power goes out, power comes back on - skimmer pumps all the water in the sump out. I am using the lifereef VS3-24 power by a Mag 950. This never happened when I used the Berling skimmer.

I was wondering if anyone has a clue how to keep this from happening. Lucky for me my stand is sealed and the water stays in the bottom of the cabinet. The BAD part is my return pump (Iwaki) gets wet and pops GFCI. I have to remove the pump, take it apart, rinse everything with fresh water, dry the insides, then put it all back together. What a PITA!!!!

Hi Randy, I just set up a Lifereef system under my tank. In the Instructions this problem is mentioned. I did what Lifereef has advised. Hook your skimmer pump up to a float switch so that it won't come on when the sump is too full. What happens is when your sump fills up your skimmer will fill up to the same level so when the power comes on your skimmer pump will push a lot of water into an already full skimmer before your main pump can pump it back into the tank. Hope this helps, Bill
