Show me your returns
Lets post what your plumbing looks like for your closed loop and overflow return. I will be setting up a new tank(166gal) and looking for ideas.

I like the idea of an internal return box. Mine has two, 1 inch holes for input and one, 1 inch hole for the return going into a sump. Some do not like this idea as it takes up space.

On this tank I have the sea swirl on the left and a marineland sos overflow on the right, behind the xenia . I built up the rock and place the xenia there to hide the overflow box.

On this tank I have the sea swirl and the closed loop intake on the left of my sos overflow with the rock work built up to hide the overflow box on the right.
