Talking Who's using an AM 3000

All you AM 3000 reefers show me your setup and give me your opinion. I want to buy an AM3000 for my sump return and to power my big PM Bullet 3 skimmer...I will also run an Iwaki 70 for my closed loop for now till I can get another AM 3000.. Do you all think the AM 3000 will be able to power my skimmner and sump return and with my set up will I have enough flow for a 170 gallon SPS tank without running any powerheads??? The Iwaki the the Japanee's version 1500gph for my closed loop?????

I think Paul or Naser will be able to help you. I think you would be better of using a three pumps. One for the skimmer, one for sump return and one for the closed loop. Can you use the Iwaki for the skimmer. The Amp Master for the closed loop and maybe a 1000 gph pump for sump return. No need to push a bunch of water through the sump.......JMO

yes i just went through this. i tried to run my return and skimmer from one ampmaster3000.. it ran the skimmer fine with no flow up, and it ran the flow from the sump up well with no foam.. just save time and a head ache by using a separte pump for your skimmer.

Naser what size tank do you have and do you keep SPS? Is your AM3000 enough return current that you dont need PH? What size inlet do you have for the inlet to the AM3000?

its a 125sps tank.. i have yet to put corals into it. there all in my 55 waiting to be transfered. there it plenty of flow coming from the ampmaster3000. i have mine running on 1inch piping all the way through to my seaswirls. it would flow much more with 1.5inch line however.

I am also running an ampmaster pump. Currently I have it tee'd 2times one of the outs is for the fuge min flow one going to a top fathom kent venturi modifed TF100 and the stright flow into a 1" sea swirll. So you ask if it works yes the skimmer kicks butt and I probably get around 700gph out of the swirl. However, I definately plan to change my configuration and run the skimmer/fuge on an iwaki 70 or 100 and use the amp master strictly for return flow.

Im using AM2100 for my return, and AM3000 for my closed loop....the closed loop does have to be restricted on the output side a bit....but I will be hooking my chiller up to my closed loop and im sure I will be able to throttle it back up again. Im gonna be using a mag12 for my skimmer. HTH
