BakPak2 conversions

I'd use search, but the feature isn't working for me. Can someone please post some links to mods for the BaKPak2, maybe some besides the message forum at cprusa.com. Thanks!! Scott

OK..I put the maxijet 1200 with the venturi kit on it today, as well as added the wood airstone to the bottom of the center chamber (like in the diagram in the link above)

now I have to find a way to get rid of all the microbubbles, the preskimmer/bubble trapbox that came with the BakPak no longer fit with the new pump...

Sorry, don't own a CPR backpack and was trying to give you some info. Here are some others that might address your problem.

Run the airstone a bit higher in the mixing chamber or on the other side of the partition. This should get the airstone out of the direct flow out of the mixing chamber and hopefully reduce the amount of bubble being pulled through the partition.

I have an original bakpak and don't have any problems with bubbles escaping. Also you have mixed two mods together here. You may be adding too many bubbles for the size of the skimmer at too high of flow. You have a limited contact volume. If you want to introduce a lot of bubbles the riser needs to be taller and the flow through the mixing chamber slower not to carry bubbles out of the skimmer. This reduced flow is not favorable with a venturi pump. IMO you may have difficulty tuning the skimmer with both these mods.

I nixed the airstone and am going with just the maxijet1200. It's still a really strong pump, but the bubbles are gone. I haven't noticed any extra skimmate since the mod, I'll give it a week to break in the new pump and see what comes of it. Thanks for all the info! Scott
