Aragorn,
I know you lurk this board late at night like me.(lol) I was curious as to if you get enough current in your 135 with just the mag 18? or if you have power heads supplementing? Im tossing around exactly 1,000,000 different ideas on how to set up my 125
Thanks,
Ryan

Well I have a 125 with a MAK4 1200 gph and 4 maxi jet 1200's on a wave master pro wave maker and feel this is a good water flow for my tank. With just the MAK4 running there is way to many dead spots and not near enough flow in the tank. My tank is mostly soft corals and a few lps and no sps.

I'm not sure what Aragorn has as far as pumps but the dead spots could be eliminated with a Mag18 and Sea-Swirls. IF you were going with lots of SPS, you may consider another smaller pump running with the MAG or even a closed loop.

Just some thoughts,
Scott Z.

Thanks scott, I think I will go with the mag 18 or comparable gph pump with sea swirls and go from there.

My 135g consists of the Mag18 and 2 3/4" Seaswirls only. I get current throughout my entire tank and I love it.

Aragorn,
Thanks I will try the same setup on my 125 and see
if I like it. Do you have sps in your tank?
Thanks

Ryan,

Yes, in fact I do. I have 3 nice Acropora corals doing quite nicely at the moment. Here' a little more info on my setup. I wish my website was back up(soon I hope):

I have the output of my Mag18 plumbed to 1" diameter PVC. Near the top of the tank I installed a 1" "T". These in turn feed each SeaSwirl. Now, my SeaSwirls are 3/4", so I reduce them using a 3/4" elbow at the intake of the SeaSwirl. The output of each SeaSwirl is excellent. HTH my friend.
