Those of you that are turning over your tanks about 20x per hour please give me some tips on how to do this without blowing sand all over the place? I have a 55 gallon tank that is 40x16x22 with a 3" fine sandbed. My retun from my skimmer is about 200GPH and I am also running 2 maxijet 900s and one maxijet 1200 on a wavemaster pro. Will cutting the tips on these help distribute the water flow so that it not damaging to the corals and how do you get the current low without making it look like it is snowing?
Thanks, Jaye

You could put the fan piece on the end of the power heads distributes the water more. The 1200 may be a bit power full for a 55.
I run 4 1200's on a wave master pro plus a 1200 gph return pump on my 125 but my tank is deeper and wider. |

Most of my friends use a thin layer of substrate over the sand.

i had a 55 gallon with fine sand and sorry to tell you that its really hard to stop that fine sand from blowing... thats why when i set up my 125 i used the bigger sized reef sand.. its alot heavier and doesnt blow around anymore.

Thanks!
Thanks for you help. I ended up cutting the output nozzel on my powerheads and the problem has gone away. I still have a ton of movement in my tank but none of it is directed enough to blow the sand around much.
