Question Berlin Turbo Skimmer

I recently aquired a berlin hangon turbo protien skimmer. Can someone who has this reactor tell me what they think of it? Does it work better with a different type of pump than the one it comes with etc....?
Thanks

I don't think you can replace the pump. The "turbo" models have the air-injector pump that you need to get any bubbles into the skimmer at all. I've never seen another pump like them.

I guess it would be possible to modify the skimmer and use an airstone w/ airpump in addition to an upgraded pump, but I personally wouldn't try it.

actually i think you can replace them Rob....now RedSea may not recommend it....but you can modify it and get away with it....atleast with a Berlin Classic which is what I had on my 90g....I believe it came with a Rio2100 (dont quote me though...I do know it was a rio) and I replaced it with a Mag7 and it did skim MUCH better....actually I have had a Mag12 on it before....and it RAWKED then....just make sure you dont cap your overflow....it must be WELL vented!

If you did replace the pump to a Mag7, lets say, where would you hook the airline to that currently hooks to the front of the Turbo pump?

oops my bad i didnt even notice the "turbo" part

isnt a turbo , same skimmer-just a different pump?
in any case if you want the thing to work decent, and are handy at all,i might consider stickin a kent venturi on it, and getting a mag 9.5 or 12.the performance will be much better.
