Question Nilsen Reactor

Anybody got a fresh link on these guys?

Or a DIY that's a little less "Tankenstein" in appearance?

I've only found one commercially available.

DIY+plumbing+Me=wet carpet...

Aqua Medic makes one, so I guess you could order one of theirs through any dealer who handles Aqua Medic/AB-Aqualine products.

Aqua Medic Filter components - The special effect

Kalkwasserreactor Production of Kalkwasser, for salt water aquaria up to 2.000 L volume

The Kalkwasserreactor is a sealed unit designed to supply reef aquariums with Calcium by enriching the fresh water top up supply. It uses the Kalkwasser-method and is filled with Calcium hydroxide, which is intermittently agitated by a pump. It is possible to automate the system by combining an automatic level controller such as the ab aquaniveau single with the AquaMedic Kalkwasserreactor. The reactor is engineered to take a pH electrode to control the quality of the kalkwasser. An additional advantage of this method is, that phosphate is removed from the top up and the aquarium water.
Dimensions:
17 x 17 x 54 cm ( L x B x H), c. 7" x 7" x 22" ( L x W x H)

Production of Kalkwasser, for salt water aquaria up to 2.000 L volume

Nin,

I only saw those at Mon. Marine.
...something like 230.00

Have you seen them anywhere else?

Dang...I just noticed how German my tank components are getting. That reactor might push me uber the top.

Hi schrocat,

I know of two commercially available Nilsen reactors (kalk stirrers).

Prob is im over the pond but i have heard at least one of them being made available in the USA soonish.

This one is made by "Deltec" and the one soon to be "made available"

Some info on the above http://www.deltecaquariumsolutions.com/kalkstir.php

This one is made by "Ratz"

info on above here under "Calcium-hydroxyd reactor type 110"....u just need to scroll down the page a little.

http://www.ratz-aquarientechnik.de/K...0025792&Page=4

I dont know if it'll help much but it's always good to know what's out there.
You may know the make if I said the DAS skimmers you can/could get are the same brand as Deltec ?

Oh yea,they're both German too...........sorry

i think i said this before recently but......i dont work for either company but i can recommend at least the Deltec haviong used one for several months now.

HTH ?

Look at the picture in the link......The base and top are 5" wide. The unit is made from 4" acrylic. Its about 6" where the pump is. its 25" tall counting the nipple at the top.
