Berlin Turbo Impeller

Does anyone know where I can order a new impeller for my Berlin Turbo. Or... how I can hook up another pump.

Thanks,
Ryan

Ryan,

Check with Marine Depot www.marinedepot2.com and ask them if they can order you a new impeller. I noticed that they list the replacement impeller for the Aqua-Medic Turboflotor skimmer at only $8. I have seen it listed for $19 on other sites. They can probably order you a new impeller since these all come from Aqua-Medic anyway. Red Sea doesn't make their own skimmers, they are made by Aqua-Medic for Red Sea. Red Sea (an Israeli company) is the U.S. distributor for Aqua-Medic's Turboflotor skimmers. The Turboflotor does not come with a Rio pump in Germany, only in the U.S. And that's because Red Sea insisted that American hobbyists were all a bunch of cheapskates who would not pay more for a better pump. It seems to be a topic of disagreement between the guys in Germany and the guys in Houston (Red Sea's U.S. office) and Eilat (Red Sea's home office, hence the name Red Sea).

What brand of pump did the new Berlin Turbo come with? Am I correct in assuming that they dropped the Rio that they used to use?

How did your impleller break? I have a Berlin Turbo and my 12 blade impeller broke into about 5 pieces. It worked for about 9 months and started to make a whole bunch of noise. I took it apart and sure enough it was broken. I pulled the skimmer off and have yet to buy another impeller. I am curious where to get one as Red Sea was not much help.

I don't have a broken impeller, I just know where to get all this kind of stuff.

I wonder why Red Sea couldn't help????

Anyway, contact Joseph or Ken at Marine Depot and ask them if they can get one for you. What brand of pump did it come with?

There is no "brand" on the pump. It is a Red Sea pump but I am sure they did not make it. I'll try Marine Depot Monday. Thanks for all the help.

I had a problem with my Berlin Turbo -- it would only start up every 3 times I plugged it in. I called Red Sea and they sent me a new impeller for free -- they didn't even inquire about how old it was etc... Their customer service was great IMO.

I emailed Red Sea about this problem and got the following response the next day.

Ryan,

Thanks for providing me with your address up front. The pump manufacturer redesigned the impeller for the turbo pump because of breakage problems and I will put you the new impeller in the mail to you today. It will look quite different, so don't be alarmed - it is the correct one.

Respectfully,

Darlene

A rapid reply with a great solution. Could not be happier

i realize this is an older post, but i too am having problems with my skimmer. It is a Red Sea Prisim and is making a loud noise now and producing so much clear foam that the collection cup fills with clear water within hours. I have shut down the water valve as closed as it will allow and still same problem.

i cant find the contact number for them at all. The above provided link is not any good now. any help on this would be apriciated.

Try the above link. Red Sea has always been more than Helpful to me. I have gotten 2 impellers for my Berlin Turbo in the past year.
