Never thought about it, Why would you want to do it?........The SS's and the pump or just the SS's?

Well........I dont know why I would want to But, just the SS itself, say in a system with two SS's.....Have one on for say 1 hr then stop in it random path. Then the other would come on for some time and so on and so on. You could just end up with some longer pause times.
    I dont know.....Is it a Bad idea??

Organicreefer must have the new improved instruction manual. Is that for a 3/4" or 1" model. My instruction manual says NOTHING about timers.......

No need to be worried unless your running them on a timer. Mine don't say it. Its kind of funny, of all the instruction manuls I have the SS's just happen to be sitting in front of me........

It does make sense not to use it on a timer.

BTW, mine will be a year old next month

Timing has an awful lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.

Ok lemme say that there is ONLY 2 instances where you would want to decrease/stop your flow.

    1. Is to feed, the first thing that comes to mind is me trying to feed my LPS like my hammer, Open Brain, and Frogspawn...they love chunks of meat and its very hard for them to eat/grab it when you have a tsunami goin on in your tank. the brain actually extends its tentacles (like it knows food is coming) when I slowdown/turnoff flow.
There is much more food in the ocean and these guys have a better chance at getting it so I think our situation is different than nature.

    2. Taking pictures so you can get better resolution....however this is a manmade simulation, not an occurance of nature.

golfish is right ,i read my intstruction manual it doesnt say anything about timers
i swear i read somwhere that you should not hook youre sea swirl to a timer(actually i think i the term was "wavemaker" )a warning sticker?something on the box???
maybe im wrong, but i would contact sea swirl before you do such a thing,i know i read it somewhere .

    Dude,
Not even close, wastedincome420 was asking about stopping the SS's not the pump. We all know the ocean doesn't slow down at night;)

This is compleatly different then your post. I don't have a problem with stopping the pumps to feed. I have a problem with what some call "night mode" ......that's a bunch of Bull

That must be the new improved version of the instructions. It doesn't say that on mine. Could be, they were trying to contribute that to some of the problems they had with the motors. How old are your SS's?
