    Skimmers again

I know his has been posted sometime ago, but I'm in need of a skimmer again, and would like some feedback on which one to get.

I was looking at the Aqua C Urchin in sump skimmer as a good choice. What do you guys suggest for a 75 gallon tank in sump?

I'm just getting all the equipment ready before I take down that freshwater setup.

    Thanks,
    Elmo

    Get a Deltec AP600!

This is THE skimmer of ALL skimmmers!!!!!!
The good thing about Deltec is that they over rate their skimmers....
My skimmer is supposed to handle a 500L tank but i can handle a 750L reef....

    Get the best.
They said aquariums would be relaxing......(yeah right)

Im getting ready to upgrade from 100g to 180, and I have been researching skimmers.....IMO I have narrowed it down to 3 skimmers that I think will perform the best.....

1.) PM BULLETs (Beckett) A little Pricey though..And requires a larger pump to run

2.)Euro-Reef CS Models. Suppose to be more energy efficient than a Beckkett, but uses a propriatary pump.

3.) MyReef MR Models (Beckett) These are like the PM, but are less $$, and you can have one custom made for your system.

This is just my opinion, and I still have not decided which one I want to go with yet!

Here is some interesting reading on skimmers...

    Platapus,
I'd get the Euro-reef or the PM...
Id rather support the original than a copy, the needle wheel skimmer prolly outcompete most of the skimmers on the market.

I have a 75 gallon setup, with a AquaC Urchin Pro, and it is the best skimmer I've found for the price. There are probably better skimmers on the market, but I think this is probably the best and easiest to use in it's price range. It works really well, pulls out thick nasty dark green skimmate, and is easy to service.

The only problem with a in-sump model is it is harder to remove from the system when you want to clean it. It is also harder to put back in, as when it doesn't have water in it, it floats. I have a really tight fitting setup though, and it fits in perfectly. I would buy another one.

    Just my opinion.

If your considering Euro-Reef, I'd have a look at Jeff's Exotic Fish.. They have a skimmer by South Bay that is very very ;) similar at a couple hundred of their prices.
