Question suggestions for a sump on an eclipse 12

I have an eclipse 12 that I am going to yank the filtration on, put in two 32watt pc's, and put a protein skimmer on.
I have a ten gallon tank with lights that I want to use as the sump for the ecplipse. I am going to add to that, sand, macro algae, live rock and a protein skimmer. Problem is, Im not sure how I need to go about getting the water to the sump and back to the tank in a manner that would be safe, effective, and prevenative from overflow problems. Any suggestions are more than welcom. Thankyou in advance.

Hi hinescom!

A simple overflow box will do it. Lifereef makes a good one that will hold siphon through a power outage. CPR also makes one but people say they break siphon and have to use a power head in them for security.

I'm not sure but I think you can easily drill an eclipse and put in an overflow using pvc pipe. As far as the 10 gallon sump- I would divide it up and put a Mag Drive pump in there for your return.
I planned on using an Eclipse for a caulerpa tank tied into my main tank but haven't got that far so I havent checked them out that close yet.

hmmmmmmmmmm? I really like that Idea, it would be really easy to drill and overflow wouldnt it? Excellent, I think that might do the trick. So what size pump would I need for that size of tank, dont want a jetstream sized current in the tank, but I would like adequate circulation. Thanx a bunch
