Corner Overflow Dimensions

In the process of planning for my custom build and I was wondering what the dimensions are on your corner overflows? I need enough room for a standpipe, probably 1.25".

I was thinking of going with 5" x 5" inner dimensions, offsetting the drain hole slightly towards the front corner to allow plenty of room for the 90 degree elbow for the standpipe. The return will be 1" and placed towards the back of the overflow.

So with all that said, what are the dimensions of your corner overflow and is it enough or would you have gone bigger or smaller now that it is set up?

I have a stockman standpipe 2" pipe with a 3" bell on it. I opted for my Overflow box to be 9" squared. The bulkhead is a 1.5" I probably went overkill on size but I didnt want to find myself in a tight situation. I hope you never have to fish anything out of your overflow (its a PITA) especially if you have eurobracing which will cover up alot of your overflow . Are you goin stockman or durso Scott? 5" is probably ok but remember you will have to get in there and tighten the bulkhead if it is loose, and conventional tools dont really work too well (tip: Oil filter wrenchs) Also try to put some type of roadblock mesh or eggcrate that will keep most if not all of your snails out of your overflow....Nassarius always seem to slip by though, because of thier size.

Hey Rocky!

If I can fit the Durso standpipe I will however if space requires, I'll use the stockman. I think I am going to go with a 6"x9" (probably will have to use the stockman) with a 1.5" bulkhead for the drain and a 1" for the return.

My next real concern is the placement of the bulkheads behind the overflow. I think I'll post in my Documentation thread to see what I can come up with.
