Hey Rocky, any idea what the 5.6K will do using 1" PVC...I checked Dolphins wed site and found nothing on it. I wonder how much more GPH it will do over the 3K using 1" PVC...

Seriously I do not have any idea on what this pump will do other than what Tom told me which i already stated....I do have an idea but its not what you want to hear :P Everyone loves to make a mountain out of a mole hill Which is fine if it doesnt improvise the integrity of the structure. I think AM3K and this new 5600 are bigger pumps for bigger tanks....thats what they are built for...And I think everyone wants to apply them to smaller tanks and multi-task the hell out of them, which here again involves integrity of the pump. The 5600 pump I believe is designed with a 2" input/output plumbing so you drop it down to half and thats a helluva head cut right there, however here is what Im thinking say you plumbed it all on the input side 2" which would not restrict your input (I feel thats important) then you built a 2" manifold that splits into 6-8 1" outputs. I think if this plumbing was done then you could get maximum effeciency. Tom Jr. and Sr. have done LOTS of background checking on this already they know the numbers they see what everyone wants so I think multitasking can be done but if its not done correctly then you have problems....such as backpressure which I think can contribute to READY FOR THIS ONE....to seals going out! Think about the dynamics of the pump for a second and tell me if that makes sense to you Mark? We as aquarist want a few things out of a pump but it goes hand and hand to so much more complexicity then we realize i think ....or at least some of us. |

![]() I don't want to put 1" lines on a 5600, but maybe 1 1/2"......or use the new AM 4000 pump. Hmmmmm wonder what downsizing to 1 1/2" would do....hehe |
