Does anybody have any experience with the Power Sweep? In other words, does it work well enough to justify the higher cost over the Maxi Jet? I have a Maxi Jet and it works well, but it is sort of hard to position in tight areas because of the way its built. I need to increase circulation in some low areas.
I'm looking in the Foster&Smith catalogue and they have Azoo power heads on sale. Are these any good or just another piece of junk that will soon get noisy and/or quit running? I have had some bad experiences with cheaper PHs (Rio), so maybe this is another you get what you pay for. Opinions, please. ![]()

It is another case of you get what you pay for. The amount of current is very minimal and the gears often need to be cleaned in order to keep it "sweeping". This is what I experienced about 1.5 years ago. I would stay with what is known to work, the Maxi Jet.

BugHead,
Like many, we tried one a few years ago. I think I still have it in a box of junk somewhere. I've heard that some people have luck with them, but not many. We found that the gears get jammed up often and it seemed we were always cleaning small pieces of debris out to keep it running. In theory, they look great! Our experience was less than great... Good luck, Doug

I had one and it was OK for a while. After a few months it just stopped working. It would not "sweep" anymore. Now mine also sits in a box collecting dust. Go for the Maxijets.

I have one and have been using it for quite some time. They require more maintenance. They need to be cleaned every few weeks to keep them rotating. They are a good alternative to the more expensive wave makers but do require much more work. I am not using one with a sponge. It may rotate longer and require less frequent cleanings if you use it with the sponge since that should trap the debris that otherwise gets in the gears.

Thanks so much, you guys. I'm so glad I asked. I used to not mind monkeying with stuff when I first started. Now I just want things to work properly and be maintenance low. I've had to increase the size of my fish junk box several times already and I'm in no mood to add to it again.
