quieting water intake to refugium

What are people doing to quiet the noise created when water pours down the what "drain pipe?" to the refugium. They always seem to be so noisy. I like my family room quiet so I can surround myself with the tranquility of my little piece of ocean.

You could try and submerge the drain line a bit below the refugiums water line. That should cut down on the noise
I'm sure others will suggest some more idea's for you
