Water change
My tanks evaportae water 1-2 gallon every other day. Instead of just dumping new water, can i just use an airline tube and gradully let it do its thing?

That is actually a better way to add makeup water.

I agree with Kevin. Adding a continuous drip of top-off water is better than adding 1-2 gallons every few days as it minimizes the salinity changes due to water volume changes. This can easily be acheived by using a container and fitting it with an adjustable fitting for airline. I plan to do this is the coming weeks as soon as I figure out where to store a container of fresh water that can drip into the sump.

To all,
It seems more accurate than dosing large quantities every so often. Is this method the same as what is termed as gravity feeding? Is this the same concept as the "nurce" system. Gary |

Ok guys, i get some airline tube and siphoned it. 1gallon gone at night all good. few drops/sec.... i used rubberbands to make the drip work. it gets sucked into a powerhead right away and is all good.
Should i just drip every night? or just every other day? Also eah time i drip replenish water minerals with kalk right? |
