Barr Aquatic Systems
In particular, I'm interested in the overflow that he builds. Has anybody seen a design like this? If so, do you have any idea how well it works? I'm currently using a hang on overflow box, and while it's never lost siphon, the thought of the all that water on the floor gives me the screaming willies.

Hi dow!
This will work out just fine, several people use this type of overflow and it works just as well as a tank drilled at the bottom. Obviously the challenge you would face here is drilling the tank, especially if it is still full of livestock and partially full of water. I would imagine it would be difficult to access the tank for drilling and I'll tell ya, my heart would be pounding the entire time; being scared the that the tank might crack or something. That would really stink especially with water and livestock in it.

Hey Scott,
That's my fear as well. I'm currently using a LifeReef hang on clone, and it works well, but the thought of something going wrong with the siphon just gets my goat. I've had the tank set up for about a year without problems, and I guess that I'm afraid that the law of averages might be turning its eye on me at any moment.
