Question Skimmer

I am getting ready to purchase the skimmer for my 125gal reef tank. I have narrowed it down to either a:

MR-1 from My Reef Creations

http://www.myreefcreations.com/main.html

or

SK1000 from Barr Aquatic Systems

http://www.barraquatic.com

Any thoughts would be helpful and if anyone has used either of these skimmers, please leave some feedback.

I just finished a week of testing the SK1000. I drove it using a Iwaki MD55RLT pump. I ran it on my 645 gal system. It performed outstanding. It was easy to clean and silent running. I would estimate it would really run up to a 300 gal tank. I think he was being conservative on his 200 gal rating.

Here is a picture of it just before installation. The object on the right is a waste collection container with auto shutoff I was also testing. I wanted to make sure the auto shutoff and carbon odor filter worked properly (they did).

HTH,
Kevin
PS: I ran this against a $539 ETSS Gemini 800 dual downdraft type skimmer driven by the same pump. The ETSS performs slightly better but certainly not for the price. I will be testing a twin Beckett vave addition/modification on the ETSS soon.

HTH,
Kevin
