drilling in the center brace
I have been considering drilling two 1 1/2 holes in my centerbrace to put the two u shaped siphon tubes for my overflow box. I know it will put more stress on the center brace but will this be a horrible idea?(cave in, ...etc. its an oceanic 105 showtank i thought if i can get the overflow in the middle i won't 1. have a shadow, 2 have more usuable space w/in the tank that gets light. the centerbrace is 11 1/2'' wide and 1/2'' thick.. any ideas?

Probably would not be a good idea to do it but you can email oceanic and ask them and they will let you know if it would be a problem or not.

im betting it would. i started thinking. (not the first time this is happend) and maybe i should just drill two holes on the back side as a drain instead of the siphon in the brace. should i keep the overflow box or just use the pipe. i thought overflows do a better job that just a piece of pipe*as far as gas exhange?

i dont think any of this will work, since the tank is running im not going to be able to do anything. drilling into the glass could cause the bit to overheat and shater the glass...and that won't be any good..back to square one.
