Cleaning pumps, powerheads, intakes etc etc

I would like to hear everyones opinions and procedures to cleaning pumps from coralline buildup, and other crud Im thinking of making a large rubbermade that I can hook up (easy connect unions) my ampmasters and run 50/50 Muriatic acid/Water and put all the other things (powerheads, intake grates, and anything else i want to clean) in the rubbermade and let it run for a bit ( 30min? an hour? ) then empty, rinse, fill and run for a couple minutes, then rinse again then fill and put some (I figure 2-4 tablespoons?) baking soda in the water (this should neutralize the acid) run it for a bit (10 min) then rinse all real well and install back.

    Rocky,
I use citric acid. Being in the soda industry its pretty easy for me to get. Soaking doesn't always do it, regardless of what you use, its best to have some kind of circulation. I've always just rinsed with fresh tap water after cleaning.

Hey, how about some updated pics of your grow out tanks?

    HEY Mark!

Yeah I know I will need circulation...thats why I wanted to hook the ampmaster up to ONLY a rubermade (closed loop) and plug in the AM3K and throw the rest of the parts in the rubbermade, thus cleaning the AM3K and the other parts......Wouldnt an AM3K be enough current

The reason why I havent posted any pics of my system lately is because I dropped my Nikon into one of the tanks.....Ok now that im embarassed and feel like a dartboard...there! hehe.....I ordered a new Nikon and it should be here within a few days. Actually I just hosted the Tampa Bay reef club last month and they have some pics on their website....not many macro shots of the growout tanks though

Oh man, I can't believe you dropped your camera in one of your tanks! It always makes me so paranoid when I am taking top view pictures of our reef; I wrap the little handle around my arm just in case.

Timing has an awful lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.
