Yes, the resin is the DI section.

The order is:

1 Micron (Sediment)

Carbon

RO membrane

DI

And you can check out this link for alot of good information:

Good Luck!

I agree with reddhaus, it's the way my R.O. unit is setup with the D.I. part set at the VERY last stage.

I hate to steal your thread stang69, but I have a similiar question I have a 100 gpd, 5 stage unit. I have a 10 micron, a 1 micron, carbon, RO, and DI. The three prefilters are of course mounted at the bottom of the unit. In which order should they be placed. According to what I've read here, the 10 micron should go first, then the carbon, then the one micron? Thanks for any suggestions!

Yep........I agree

I would say as a general rule, the smaller/finer filter stages are at the end of the chain. Which means the larger ones are put up front.

I would also agree:
10-1-carbon-RO-DI

However, what is the purpose or advantage to having a 10 micron and 1 micorn sediment filter in the unit except that it may lengthen the life of the 1 micron filter?

Regards,

Perhaps the 10 does take a little strain off of the 1 over time. That's a good theory. Never thought of it that way The reason I ask is because the place that I purchased this unit from (It's not a Kent Marine unit or anything) seems to believe that the 10 micron goes first, the carbon second, and then the 1 micron. This guy works for a water purification company and builds these things to sell on the side. I've always ran it his way with excellent results, but I would tend to agree with everyone else on the prefilter placement. Just found it kinda odd. Thanks for eveyone's input.

The 10 micron sediment cartridge is used, as someone suggested above, to catch large particles before they reach the rest of your system. This is (probably) not the order from left to right. Its in order from water coming in to water going out.

The typical order folks mentioned above, sediment then carbon the RO then DI is correct.

If the pore size (expressed in microns) of the carbon block cartridge is greater than the pore size of the filter(s) in front of it, then you are protecting the carbon cart.

If the pore size of the carbon block cart is smaller than the pore size of something behind it, than you are protecting whatever is behind it.

So the question is, what is the pore size of the carbon block he sold you? I'm guessing you have no way of telling.

When you're ready for refills, you might want to go in this order: 10 micron sediment, 1 micron sediment, 1 micron carbon, RO, DI.
