Painting the tank

I had a friend that used to paint the back of his tanks. I really liked this, because I didn't have to worry about the paper getting messed up.

Does anyone know what kind of paint you can use on the outside of the tank? I will be painting it while it is empty, if that helps.

I also have painted the back of my tank black. I used a latex enamel from Home Depot. If black isn't what you want, they can mix it in any color you want.
